Middle Ridge Preserve

Toto, I don’t think we’re in Aspen anymore…

One of the priorities of the Land Bank, and every other conservation organization on the Island, is to protect the highlands. This isn’t only because what fresh surface-water there is on the Island begins its short journey to the sea from the top of the moraine, but also because who wouldn’t rather see a darkening ridge of trees with the moon rising behind it than a night train of trophy homes. These seven acres of summit were purchased in 1994.

From the Land Bank’s description: The ocean view here is the reward for mounting the hill.

Getting there: The trail starts .6 miles up Tea Lane from the Middle Road side.

For more information, visit the official Land Bank Website. Also, be sure to check out their cool map.
