    Getting Around

Navigating the dreaded Five Corners, and beyond.

Up-Island, Down-Island, and All Points Between

If you choose not to ferry your car there are still plenty of ways to get from point A to point B. We have tour companies, taxis, and Ubers. VTA (Vineyard Transit Authority) buses travel all over the Island. Plus bike, moped and car rentals abound. If you choose the two-wheeled transport option just be sure to wear your helmet – our roads are narrow and the shoulders, when there are shoulders, are sandy. Let “Easy Does It” be your motto.

    Public Busses

The main VTA terminal is right in front of the Steamship Authority terminal in Vineyard Haven. Riders can flag down busses to get on or off at any point along the route.

    Tour Operators

There are lots of private tour operators, but some of the greatest-hits bus tours leave from Oak Bluffs Harbor.

    Taxis and Ride Shares

Wherever you are, our friendly Island drivers are ready to serve. You can usually hail a cab right from the Steamship Authority terminals.

    Car Rentals

Find rental locations in Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs, or Edgartown.

    Bike and Moped Rentals

The Vineyard on two wheels is pure magic, but please be careful! Bike lanes are sparse, and the Island harbors many heated opinions about the safety of mopeds.

    Ferries

If you’re heading to Chappaquiddick, you’ll have to buy a ticket for the Chappy Ferry. The Menemsha Bike Ferry also helps cyclists save time between Menemsha and Aquinnah.
