South Beach

Pretty and popular

One of the most popular public beaches on the Island is Edgartown’s South Beach, complete with lifeguards, surf, a volleyball net, and parking. Stretching out nearly three miles, you can stake out your own quiet spot in the middle of the two “forks” (right or left), or join the crowds that tend to gather at each end. If the surf is too strong for the young folks, there are protected waters on the Katama Bay side.

The Beach Expert Says:

South-Beach has two distinct groupings. The left fork is for families and nearby condo owners/renters, and the right fork is the Mecca for teenagers: wall to wall sand and sun, awesome waves, and the lifeguards are their friends, so that just adds to the fun.
