One of the largest farms on the Island, and for a long time in jeopardy of being sold and broken up, it was recently purchased with the help of several wealthy donors and a lot of local organizations by the Island Grown Initiative. Plans include restoring the greenhouse operation and building a USDA slaughterhouse, which should make local meat more available for sale at grocery stores.
