Description

The bucolic Beetlebung Farm is run by chef Chris Fischer, a 12-generation islander who as a child, learned how to hunt, fish, forage and farm from his father and grandfather. When Chris cooks, he thinks food should be simple and fresh and you should be able to see your ingredients, and his farm stand, which has been a family operation for over 35 years, reflects that. You’ll find sustainably raised vegetables and you’ll eat well when you prepare your farm-to-table meal.

History

Beetlebung Farm lies between Middle Road and South Road at Beetlebung Corner in Chilmark. Ozzie Fischer bought the 5-acre farm in 1961, where he farmed for many years until his death at age 96. His daughter Marie Scott also raised and sold vegetables there for many years, and now the Beetlebung is run by Ozzie’s grandson, Chris Fischer. A self-serve farmstand carries vegetables from the farm and other products from Chilmark.
