    Oyster Farms

    That Great Slurping Sound

    The Vineyard is blessed with a wide variety of shellfish: quahogs, cherrystones, and littleneck clams, steamer clams, bay scallops, mussels, and oysters.  All of these are harvested from the wild, but there are also commercial oyster farms in Menemsha Pond and Katama Bay.

    Contact Roxanne Ackerman (508-645-9061) to purchase split Rock cock- tail oysters by appointment, or get them at the West Tisbury Farmers’ Market.

    Menemhsa Oysters:
    Contact Emmet Carroll (508 560-2581) to purchase by appointment or get them at the Menemsha Fish Market.

    Castro’s Oysters (Katama):
    Contact Scott Castro (508-627-9477) to purchase by appointment or at Menemsha Fish Market.

    Sweet Neck Farm (Katama):
    Call Jack Blake and Sue Ryan at 508-627-8347 or get them at the Net Result.

    Sweet Oyster Farm (Katama):
    Contact Roy Scheffer, (508-627-4192) or get them at Edgartown Seafood or Larsen’s Fish Market.
