    Margaret K. Littlefield Greenlands

You can have one foot in Edgartown, one in West Tisbury, a hand in Vineyard Haven and another in Oak Bluffs–if that’s the kind of thing you’re into.

Purchased by the Town of West Tisbury in 1982 primarily to protect the aquifer lying beneath it, this 350 acre preserve has several lovely walking/cycling/horseback trails. The Island has a single underground water source, and nowhere is it closer to the surface than here where four out of the five towns meet.

In recent years the green lands were in the news on the Island because they had become a favorite haunt of riders of dirt bikes and ATVs, both of which are illegal on the site primarily due to the potential for pollution.

It’s also a part of a Cross Town Trail.
