Elissa Turnbull of Chilmark submitted the winning entry for this year’s Agricultural Fair poster. Fair manager Amy Coffey says that there were more than 30 entries, which ranged from pigs to tractors to Ferris wheels.
“It’s always a challenging process to select the winner from so many extremely talented artists,” Coffey wrote in an email. “The judging is done without the knowledge of the artist. The fair committee really loved Elissa’s style and the fun use of farm animals, and the red tractor driven by a mermaid. The mermaid brings in aquaculture, which is an increasingly important part of our traditional agricultural community. Elissa’s poster spoke to us of summertime, fun, and the fair!”
