Edgartown used to be known simply as Great Harbor, which even a perfunctory glance at a chart will tell you is not false advertising.

The Edgartown Harbormaster maintains an informative and useful website, and it’s best to plan ahead as moorings and dockage can fill up early in the high season. You can download their PDF version of the basic information about docking and mooring in Edgartown here.
They can also be reached at 508-627-4746, or be raised on VHF Channels 9 and 74. (They also monitor the coast guard channel — 16).
There are also docks available at the Mad Max Marina, which can reached between 9 am and 5 pm at 508-627-740, and at the Harborside Inn, which can be reached at 508-627-4321. Both of these private businesses also monitor VHF channel 9.
Additional services and information:
- There is ZERO DISCHARGE of waste in Edgartown waters but there is a free Pump-out boat operated by the Harbormaster’s Department, VHF CH. 74
- Water is available at North Wharf while fueling, or the Water Barge located opposite green can #9.
- Fuel is available on North Wharf between 8 am and 5 pm. Propane is available from Vineyard Propane, Dukes County Airport, Edgartown (508- 693-5080). Island Fuel (508-627-9955) deliverers marine diesel.
- Ice is available from Captain Porky’s Bait & Tackle, Town Provisions, or The Quarterdeck.
- Repairs and supplies can be found from: Edgartown Marine Boat Services 508-627-6500, Martha’s Vineyard Shipyard, Edgartown, 508-627-6000, or the Great Harbor Boatyard 508-939-8686. For sail repairs, contact Vineyard Sound Sails, Vineyard Haven 508-693-6791, or The Loft, Gretchen Snyder, Vineyard Haven 508-693- 3312. If you need a diver, contact the harbormaster.
- The Oldport Launch service can be hailed on VHF CH. 68. You can email the service at oldportedgartown@gmail.com.
- Showers and restrooms are at the Edgartown Visitors Center on Church Street and at North Wharf on Morse Street.
